BUTUAN CITY – A high-value individual (HVI) involved in the illegal drug trade and three of his companions were arrested in a buy-bust on Monday afternoon in Cagwait, Surigao del Sur.

In a statement Tuesday, the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) identified the arrested HVI as Mark Carlo Lisondra Zamora, a resident of Barangay Aras-asan, Cagwait.

The three other suspects nabbed during the buy-bust were Christian Jason Ariola Arniego, Japeth Agusan Balili, and Charles Niff Villarobia, all residents of the same town.

Confiscated from the suspects were two pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing some 26 grams of suspected shabu.

“The seized illegal drugs have a total market value of PHP176,800,” the SDSPPO said.

The government operatives, composed of personnel from the Cagwait Municipal Police Station, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Surigao del Sur, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and intelligence operatives of SDSPPO also recovered from the suspects the PHP1,000-peso marked money used during the buy-bust, two mobile phones, and an improvised glass pipe.

“The arrested suspects and the confiscated items are under the custody of Cagwait police for proper disposition,” the SDSPPO said.

The suspects will be charged in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
