How to Make Flavored Salted Eggs

Salted egg is a favorite food to serve during breakfast, lunch, dinner and even snacks. It is best paired with sliced tomatoes and onion. But don’t you know that aside from plain salted eggs, we now have flavored salted eggs? Yes, recognized by the Philippine government agency last November 2013, flavored salted eggs are the invention of college students from Occidental Mindoro. Now, we already have honey, garlic, adobo, basil, pandan and cheese-flavored salted eggs to choose from. Because of this invention, many are now thinking to start flavored salted egg business. [caption id="attachment_13213" align="alignnone" width="531"][/caption] Here are the steps on how to make flavored salted eggs: Ingredients: 12 fresh duck eggs 6 cups water 1 ¾ to 2 cups salt Flavors: Adobo sauce, ½ cup cheese, 1 cup sautéed garlic, ½ cup honey. You may also experiment with other flavors you like. Procedure:
  1. Wash carefully the duck eggs.
  2. Get the bottled jar or plastic container and put the salt and water. Mix thoroughly the brine solution. Also, mix the flavor of your choice and slowly put the duck eggs.
  3. Tighten the lid of the jar or container. Make sure all of the eggs are submerge in brine solution. Place in a dark and cool place for at least 3-4 weeks.
  4. Get a sample and boil it for 25 minutes. Taste if the saltiness and flavors are just enough.
  5. To make it natural, don’t put any color to it. Print a label indicating its flavor, date made and brand.
