PSA Iloilo exceeds target for nat'l ID registration

ILOILO CITY, May 26 (PIA) - - The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Iloilo has registered around 834,155 Ilonggos for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or National ID, as of Sunday, May 23.

PSA-Iloilo Director Nelida Amolar said the figure exceeded by 15.88 percent the targeted 701,631 Ilonggos to be registered for PhilSys in the city and province until May 31 this year.

Of the 834, 155 registrants, around 188,075 are from the city of Iloilo.

Amolar thanked the local government units, private sector and other stakeholders for the support given for the conduct of a seamless registration in the city and province of Iloilo.

She also lauded the registration team and the village chiefs for their efforts and cooperation that contributed a lot to the positive outcome of the registration involving residents of barangays in the different municipalities of the province.

To date, there are 42 registration centers established in Iloilo - 35 in the different local government units in the province and seven in the city.

The seven registration centers in Iloilo are located in Iloilo City Malls in Ungka and Tagbak in Jaro district; Molo gym; Arevalo gym; San Rafael gym in Mandurriao district; Iloilo Science and Technology University in Lapaz district; and Midtown Hotel in City Proper district.

Amolar said all these seven registration centers are temporarily closed since the city was placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) until May 31, 2021 due to coronavirus disease 2019.

Per Executive Order No. 041 issued by Mayor Jerry Treñas which placed the city of Iloilo under MECQ status, gatherings outside of residences are prohibited and only gatherings for essential services are allowed during the period.

Amolar said to make the registration more accessible to Ilonggos they will open registration centers in two more malls here in July.

“The mobile registration in SM City Iloilo already started but this only served employees and tenants of the mall, we are opening this to online registrants and walk-ins by July,” said Amolar.

The ongoing PhilSys registration is open to Filipinos 15 years-old and above and they are required to present one valid ID such as Professional Driver’s License, DFA-issued Philippine Passport or ePassport and GSIS or SSS-issued Unified Multi-purpose Identification Card (UMID), among others during the registration.  (JSC/laf/PIA6 Iloilo)
