PRO 10 plants 1,180 mangrove seedlings

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, May 19-- Police Regional Office  (PRO)-10 through its Regional Community Affairs Development Division organized a Mangrove treeplanting in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)- 10 at the shorelines of Sitio Punta, Barangay Bonbon here last week.

This project aims to protect the shorelines from damaging storm, hurricane winds, waves, floods, and helps to prevent erosion along the coastal area.

It also seeks to increase the awareness  level among the communities on the importance of caring for and preserving the environment as well as to foster strong and active participation of the PNP personnel and the communities in environment protection.

The activity was attended by 118 Regional Headquarters personnel assigned in Command Group, R1 to R9 and Regional Heath Service Unit.

The personnel have planted 1,180 mangrove seedlings along the shorelines in strict adherence to health protocols to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases. (PRO10)
