Mamba said massive vaccination should be prioritized at this point that infection of COVID-19 cases are increasing nationwide.

"I am calling for the postponement of the election. Let us have vaccination first until we achieve the herd immunity," Mamba said.

He said that there will be a lot of negative impacts of the election exercises to include the possible resurge of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) with the conduct of rallies, house to house visitations and other campaign strategies of the candidates.

The governor also added that election will further divide the leaders and will surely set aside actions to be undertaken to control the contagion of the deadly virus as everyone will be focused on the elections.

"The congress can form a constituent assembly to discuss the postponement of the election because this is a constitutional provision that we need to revise. I think a constitutional provision can be amended through constituent assembly," Mamba said.

The governor also clarified that his call for election postponement is not because of his personal fear for  his opponents but  purely consideration on  the possible end results of the election proceedings to the health and the economy of the province.

He also stressed that 'vote buying' may also be rampant at this point because of the crisis that everyone is experiencing as effect of the restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.# (BME/OTB/PIA-Cagayan)
