CALOOCAN CITY, May 10 (PIA) -- Caloocan City Mayor Oca Malapitan on Sunday orderd the closure of Gubat sa Ciudad and said charges will be filed against its owners, Barangay 171 officials, and all guests of the resort for violating health protocols.

The resort’s business permit may also be revoked while Malapitan has ordered contact tracing, close monitoring, and COVID-19 tests for everyone who crowded the resort amid the modified enhanced community status.

This was after photos went viral on social media showing individuals swimming at the said resort in Barangay Bagumbong despite the strict quarantine protocols.

"The [resort] operators, barangay officials, and all individuals who came to the resort will face charges," Malapitan said on his official Facebook account.

The city mayor then ordered testing and contract tracing activities to lessen the transmission of COVID-19.

According to the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, resorts are only allowed to operate in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) or modified enhanced community quarantine (MGCQ).

Metro Manila, as part of the NCR Plus bubble, remains in MECQ until May 14, after it was returned to a stricter lockdown in end-March amid a record-high surge in COVID-19 infections. (PIA NCR)
