CALOOCAN CITY, April 25 (PIA) -- More northern metro residents, particularly Navoteños, will be given access to free technical and vocational education following the inauguration of Navotas Vocational Training and Assessment (NAVOTAAS) Institute as the new Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) satellite office and training center in the Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela (CaMaNaVa) area.

TESDA Director General, Sec. Isidro Lapeña, together with Deputy Director General, Lina Sarmiento; Regional Director, Florencio Sunico Jr.; District Director, Rolando Dela Torre; NAVOTAAS Institute Head, Kathryn Anne Hilario; and Vice Mayor Clint Geronimo led the ribbon cutting and unveiling of marker.

“It may take a while for our economy to fully recover, but it is prudent to keep our people ready and equipped with new and multiple skills. Their education and training can boost their chances of landing jobs and other livelihood opportunities in the future,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

“We look forward to our continued partnership with TESDA and the success of more Navoteños in the tech-voc field,” Mayor Toby added.

The TESDA-NAVOTAAS Training Center, in a bid to quickly facilitate certification of Overseas Filipino Workers bound abroad, also opened its assessment center for Domestic Work NC II.

It is the first assessment center for Domestic Work NC II in the National Capital Region.

The training center will further offer tech-voc courses on 2D Animation, Advance Microsoft Excel Training, Computer System Servicing, Cyber Security, Driving, and Solar Powered Lighting and Mobile Phone Charging Kit Training.

Last year, Navotas and TESDA signed the memorandum of agreement giving the latter the right to use the second, third and fourth floors of the NAVOTAAS Institute-Main for five years. (PIA NCR)
