MisOcc extends cash assistance to gov’t COVID-19 frontliners

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental, April 26 (PIA)--In recognition of their hard work and valuable presence amid the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 crisis, the provincial government here turned over the financial assistance to frontliners who have been affected by COVID-19 in the performance of their duties at New Function Hall, Capitol, Oroquieta City.

For the first batch, the province approved 40 beneficiaries amounting to P840,000.

The PGMO employees each received P25,000 cash assistance, while LGU and national government employees each received P15,000 cash.

Governor Philip Tan said the provincial government will continue to help and ensure that the frontliners in various government agencies are able to serve the communities amid the current crisis.

“These frontliners made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. We will honor their bravery by continuing their fight and ensuring that they will not have died for nothing. No amount will ever be enough to repay them for their significant contribution to the fight against COVID-19,” the governor said.

The policy of the province is to protect and promote the right to health of people, as well as the rights and welfare of workers and employees.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved Ordinance No.68-20 known as “Frontliners financial assistance of Misamis Occidental.”

This ordinance shall apply to all frontliners in the province who provide services needed in the fight against COVID-19, who have contracted or been infected by the virus, and those who died in the performance of their duties. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
