Local COVID-19 transmission at 94.6% as Bohol prepares for fiesta month

CORTES, Bohol, April 13 (PIA) -- As Bohol gears up for fiesta celebrations in May, five towns and Tagbilaran City recorded double digits in their local coronavirus affectation.

A total of 188 active cases were recorded for the day, no new cases and 178 of these by local transmission with 94.6 percent local transmission.

As of 12:00 noon of April 10, 50 Tagbilaran City residents and seven of its health care workers are in different levels of isolation, all of them having tested positive for COVID-19 as local health officials seek out ways to arrest the local transmission of the virus.

Bohol fiesta month officially opens on May 1, although Corella town fiesta is celebrated April 27 to 28.

Even with the arrival and high accomplishments in the utilization of the COVID-19 vaccines, it is still wise for communities to keep their guards up as the virus is still proven to be fatal. (PIA)

Somewhere in the central parts of Bohol, Danao and its nearby areas also scamper to trace the origins of a local transmission that has affected 15 residents.

In Carmen town, health authorities have also tried to stop the local transmission, with 13 residents and one health care worker found to be positive for COVID-19.

The town used to have a higher figure of local transmission brought in by returning residents.

In the southeast, Jagna already registered 14 local transmission cases.

Barely three kilometres from Tagbilaran City, Dauis in the island of Panglao also registered 12 local transmission cases comprised of 10 residents and two health care workers.

In the northeast of Bohol, Talibon, which had experienced a near outbreak in its island barangay, still carries the burden of 10 local transmission cases: seven from local residents and three health care workers.

Still in the northeast, Ubay showed a decrease in local affectation with eight cases, down from record high months ago.

Still another successful management of the COVID-19 cases while in local transmission is Tubigon, where from a high local transmission a couple of months ago, the town now has six residents and one health care worker affected.

The town also has another case involving a returning resident.

Towns with high cases include Maribojoc and Baclayon.

Cortes and Loay towns recorded five cases each involving local transmission.

Meanwhile, Inabanga town recorded seven cases this week. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
