LGU Cotabato City urges senior citizens to get vaccinated vs COVID-19

COTABATO CITY, April 24 (PIA)-- The city government of Cotabato through its City Health Office has urged senior citizens to get vaccinated against the deadly coronavirus disease 2019.

“We call on all 21,000 senior citizens of the city to register at their respective Barangay Health Stations and wait for their vaccination schedule at the identified City Vaccination Sites,” Dr. Meyasser Patadon, the city health officer, said.

Patadon said the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out for the first batch of senior citizens, who are from the barangays of Rosary Heights 6,7, 8, and 9, and Poblacion 8, started on Tuesday, April 20. They received Sinovac vaccine.

“Sila po muna dahil limited lang ang number of vaccine allocated to us by DOH XII,” the city health officer noted, adding that the senior citizens are on top priority list of the city government to be vaccinated to boost their protection against COVID-19.

Patadon also emphasized that the Sinovac vaccine for senior citizens is certified safe and effective by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Department of Health (DOH).

As of Tuesday, the City Health Office has already vaccinated more than 2,500 healthcare workers, including the elderly, and has not recorded a single serious or severe adverse event caused by any COVID-19 vaccine. (LTBolongon-PIA Cotabato City)
