Iligan holds CPOC-CADAC 1st quarter joint meeting

ILIGAN CITY, Apr. 1 (PIA)--To discuss updates on the peace and order situation in the city, a first-quarter joint meeting of the City Peace And Order Council - City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CPOC-CADAC) was held here.

Convening various national and local agencies, Mayor Celso Regencia, concurrent CPOC-CADAC chairperson, presided the said meeting to tackle issues on security threat, anti-illegal drug and gambling operations, drug reformation programs, and road clearing activities, among others.

During the meeting, it was reported that the community support operations conducted by the 4th Mechanized Infantry (Kalasag) Battalion, and the local government unit of Iligan City, the 1st Infantry Division has resulted in the declaration of Rogongon, Panoroganan, Kalilangan, and Mainit as cleared barangays and ready for the conduct of retooled community support program operation. 

As part of the activities of the Iligan City Task Force to End Local Communist-Armed Conflict (ELCAC), the Kalasag Battalion also conducted a dialogue with the tribal leaders and youth in Barangay Rogongon.

Together with the Iligan City Police Office, the Battalion also conducted a serbisyo caravan and an indignation rally condemning the atrocities of the communist terrorist group at Sitio Cadayunan, Barangay Rogongon.

The 55th Engineer Brigade, on the other hand, provided updates on the ongoing construction of the road network rehabilitation project for barangays Dulag-Kalilangan and Panoroganan. For its civil affairs, the Brigade also participated in bloodletting and tree planting activities. 

Meanwhile, the Iligan City Police Office reported that the total crime volume for the first quarter of 2021 has reduced compared to the cases during the 4th quarter of 2020. ICPO also intensified its operations on the campaign against illegal drugs and anti-illegal gambling. 

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Lanao del Norte also reported its anti-drug operations and other priority issues affecting and/or contributing to the peace and order and public safety in the city.

Updates were also presented on the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program and Iligan City Drug and Rehabilitation Center.

Balay Silangan Reformatory Center Program Director Leony Roy Ga shared that 18 individuals have graduated from the reformation program on February 16, 2021. 

On the road clearing program, the Department of Interior and Local Government encouraged the barangays to sustain and maintain the efforts in clearing the roads for another round of validation. The agency also shared updates on the status of the energization of the priority areas identified by the National Task Force ELCAC.

For the update on the vaccination against coronavirus disease, Iligan Emergency Operations Center Health Cluster Manager Dr. Belinda Lim shared that as of March 31, 67% of the 3,6000 health workers in the city have been vaccinated. (LELA/PIA ICIC)
