EMB-10 vows to continue addressing climate change

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 23 (PIA)--The Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB)-10 has spearheaded the Month of Planet Earth and Earth Day 2021 celebration with emphasis on addressing climate change.

With the  theme “Restore the Earth,” the whole month of April is celebrated as Earth Month while April 22 is the earth day celebration.

Digamo further said that because of the adverse effect of climate change, the earth month celebration is centered on addressing its effects amid COVID-19 pandemic.

“While we are continuously protecting the people against COVID-19, we in our agency still continue our programs in addressing climate change,” he added.

The EMB reminds the public that when nature strikes back it will affect everyone including the agriculture and economy. "It is important that in our own little ways that we help the government in saving our environment. The little contribution can we give can go a long way in solving or cautioning the impact of climate change," he maintained.

The DENR, on the other hand, announced that the  activities during the month-long celebration include Plantitos/Plantitas: Donate a plant for a greener DENR X (April 20-30); Environmental Symposium for ENR Ambassadors and CMU students (April 22 online), Online Photo Contest (on initiatives undertaken in relation to the theme) (April 22), Earth Day Modified Quiz Bowl (April 22), Webinar Series: Earth Day 2021 (April 22), and Tree growing with Oro Runners (April 24) and Digital Poster-Slogan Making Contest (April 2021).
