DOLE facilitates P430,000 settlement claim of 12 workers in Tuguegarao City

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, April 14 (PIA)– A total amount of P430,866.00 in settlement grant was awarded to 12 workers from a teaching firm during a mandatory conference conducted at the Dapartment of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 02 Holding Area earlier yesterday.

The said amount covers underpayment of wages and unpaid 13th month pay of the 12 affected workers after an inspection uncovered the aforementioned violations.

As part of the proceedings, a representative for the employer’s side also submitted a Certificate of Training on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) as an additional provision in the Notice of Compliance sent by DOLE RO2 to the establishment.

The office also required the employer to deposit the payment of claims for those workers who weren’t able to physically appear for the awarding due to health and safety reasons.

Mr. Dionisio Versola, head of the Labor Standards and Labor Relations Unit of the office, led the mandatory conference for DOLE RO2’s side.
“This awarding reiterates our mandate of protecting the rights of workers in the Region and we hope to settle more of this for the rest of the year,” Mr. Versola said.

Also present during the awarding were OIC-Supervising Labor and Employment officer Atty. Jason Elizaga and Senior Labor and Employment Officer Mr. Onofre James Mendoza. (MDCT/PIA-2)
