DOH-10:COVID-19 vaccine is not only for self-protection but for family and community as well

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 9 (PIA)--Receiving a jab of COVID-19 vaccine is not just for self-protection against the virus but it also helps protect one's family and community, according to Dr. David Mendoza, Local Health Support Division chief of the Department of Health (DOH)-10.

Even though a few individuals are having second thoughts of getting a jab, Mendoza encourages not just the frontline healthcare workers but also all the frontline workers to avail themselves of the vaccines to prevent COVID-19 from further spreading in the region.

“The vaccine is not only to protect yourself, but it is also a protection of your family and community,” Mendoza maintained.

“Based on our experience, we encourage not only the frontline healthcare workers but all frontline workers. When it is already your schedule for vaccination, please do avail of it. We know that some of you are having second thoughts, but, we ask all of you to allow yourselves to be vaccinated to stop the spread of the COVID 19 virus,” he added.

Mendoza explained that the benefit of getting a jab outweighs the adverse effects, which is a normal body reaction to be be experienced after vaccination such as fever, rash, and chills.

There is also no reported case in the region that after vaccination a person had experienced severe adverse effects following immunization.

He also urged all frontline healthcare  workers who are scheduled to receive their second dose to complete it.

“I would like to encourage and challenge all to protect yourself, your family, and your community by having your dose of the vaccine,” Mendoza concluded. (JAKA/PIA10)
