Digos City and Hagonoy brgys, most outstanding “lupong tagapamayapa”

DAVAO CITY, April 7 (PIA) – The Barangay Kiagot of Digos City and Barangay Guihing of Hagonoy town in Davao del Sur are cited as this year’s Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa or barangay peace committees in the province.

On its memorandum for the city and municipal mayors on April 5, 2021, the Department of the Interior and Local Government of Davao del Sur declared the winning barangays after it concluded the Provincial Search for the Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA) conducted on March 23-24, 2021.  

For the Component City category, the Barangay Kiagot of Digos City emerged as the winning barangay after it garnered 99.58 per cent rating in its overall performance.

The Barangay Guihing of the municipality of Hagonoy, which obtained 99.30% in its overall performance, ranked first among other barangays from nine municipalities in the 1st-3rd Class Municipality category.

The Brgy. Ceboza of Matanao ranked second with 97.60% rating, followed by Brgy. Malawanit of Magsaysay with a rating of 97.40%.

Provincial Director Mika-Chan Magtulis of DILG Davao del Sur, said that Brgy. Kiagot and Brgy. Guihing will each be receiving P150,000 cash incentive and plaque of recognition from the Provincial Government.

The second ranking winner will get P125,000, while the third will receive P100,000. Consolation prize at P25,000 will be given to each of the seven other barangays.

Magtulis said that Brgy. Kiagot and Brgy. Guihing will be the provincial entries for the Regional Search for Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa CY 2021, which is slated tentatively on April 19 in Davao City.

The provincial director explained that the LTIA is a joint program of DILG and the Department of Justice (DOJ), aiming to highlight the role of the lupong tagapamayapa in communities and their resourcefulness in resolving cases under the Katarungang Pambarangay or barangay justice system.
