BFP Ozamiz observes fire prevention month 2021

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, Mar. 31 (PIA)-- The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has shifted to new normal on its observance of the Fire Prevention Month, which started, March 1, amid the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic.

Outgoing Fire Marshall FSInsp. Wilfredo Dagatan together with the participating agencies and fire volunteer groups conducted a motor caravan within vital roads throughout the city to mark the start of this year's Fire Prevention Month with the theme, "Sa Pag-iwas Sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa!"

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and based on the IATF’s order, our activities to observe Fire Prevention Month is very limited especially in conducting fun walks, fire drills and other activities every year,” Dagatan said.

Dagatan urges Ozamiznon to be vigilant to avoid fire not only in the month of March but at all times, especially inside households, in the use of liquefied petroleum gas or LPG, appliances that use electricity, and etc.

“We hope that through these activities, we will be able to strengthen the people’s preparedness on the hazards of fire,” he added.

During the motorcade, the 12 newly-acquired fire trucks were paraded in the city.

This annual celebration aims to remind the public that fire safety is everyone's concern and that despite the new normal, the BFP will continue to intensify and promote its proactive fire safety awareness campaign with the active participation and involvement of the community and all other sectors of society.
