Authorities destroy marijuana plantations in Kalinga

TINGAYAN, Kalinga, April 25 (PIA) - - Authorities burned about Php59.36 million worth of marijuana plants and its byproducts in Barangay Loccong, this municipality during a three- day operation on  April 20 to 22.
 
A composite team of law enforcement operatives during the eradication dubbed as “Oplan 08 India "(Invincible) of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office and Oplan Jolly Green” of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group uprooted and burned on site 128,800 fully grown marijuana plants.
 
Police report said the plantations were discovered   in three sites with an estimated total land area of 13,600 sq.m.
 
While conducting operation at the second site, the team recovered seven sacks containing marijuana dried leaves and bricks, with an estimated value of Php33,600,000.00.
 
Kalinga PNP Provincial Director PCol. Davy Vicente Limmong commended the operating team for the successful implementation of the Oplans. He said this is a continuous effort to clear drug-affected barangays in the province particularly in Tinglayan. (PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
