19,000 flee homes in Catanduanes due to Typhoon Bising

VIRAC, Catanduanes (PIA) -- A total of 19,119 individuals wer evacuated in the respective designated evacuation centers of the eleven (11) towns of Catanduanes as of 06:00 o'clock in the afternoon of April 18, 2021, due to Typhoon Bising.

Governor Joseph C. Cua issued Memorandum 081series of 2021, Sunday, April 18, directing all municipal mayors and punong barangays of Catanduanes  to order mandatory evacuation of all risidents living near shorelines, riverbanks, and landslide-prone areas.

The breakdown of evacuees per town were as follows: Baras (3,052); Bagamanoc (336); Bato (230);  Caramoran (119); Gigmoto (2,002); Pandan (157); Panganiban (760); San Andres (247); San Miguel (2,775); Viga (69); and Virac (9,372).

As of 10 pm yesterday, the eye of the center of Typhoon Bising was locat at 270 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (13.7°N, 126.7°E).

All passenger vessels bound to and from the ports of Catanduanes are not allowed to venture into sea until typhoon signals are lifted.

Power supply were also cut-off provincewide, but network connections are still up. (PIA5Catanduanes)
