Sinovac a 'shot of hope' says top ZSMC doctors

PAGADIAN CITY, March 9 (PIA) – Sinovac shots are ‘shots of hope’.

This was happily announced to the public by Dr. Anatalio Cagampang, Jr., the chief of the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center (ZSMC) and current chief of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) after the first roll out of COVID-19 vaccines held at the Balay Bisaya of the Provincial Government Center in barangay Dao on Monday, March 8.

Cagampang was with three top doctors namely: Dr. Robert Capatoy, spokesperson of IATF Covid-19, Dr. Felipe Son, chief of the clinic, and Drs. Franklin Ligas, cardiologist at ZSMC led the medical frontliners receiving Sinovac shots against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with the hope of boosting people’s confidence in the said vaccine.

Cagampang said he volunteered to be the first to be injected in public as an example of the 600 registered medical frontliners to undergo vaccination in the hospital.

Cagampang said that after injecting him with the Sinovac vaccine he did not feel anything in his body.

“There was no numbness in my arm, I didn’t have a fever, my heart wasn’t palpitating and my vital signs were perfect. Because of this, I call the COVID-19 vaccination a ‘shot of hope’ because it was the hope of people then not being infected with the COVID-19 virus,” Cagampang announced.

According to Dr. Son, similar to Cagampang’s situation, he also did not feel unwell after being vaccinated.

"This Sinovac vaccine that was injected by us will also be very helpful to the people because if they are infected with COVID-19 disease, they will be protected from the virus," Son explained.

In the same development, Dr. Capatoy announced that no side effects were felt on his body after vaccination.

“So far, I have not felt any discomfort in my body after being injected with the Sinovac vaccine. I also didn’t notice any side effects. I just feel normal,” Capatoy revealed.

He hopes that after having the medical frontliners vaccinated, people will faithfully support the government’s program by voluntarily receiving the vaccine to protect them from the infectious virus.

"We remind everyone that there is no better vaccine in our country, except for the available vaccines that have arrived in our area," Capatoy concluded.

The ceremonial vaccination rollout was witnessed by Governor Victor Yu, 1st District Representative Divina Grace Yu and some ZSMC staff and members of the local media. (RVC/GCC/PIA9-Zamboanga del Sur)
