Samar solon eyes distribution of home, farm lot to rebel returnees

TACLOBAN CITY, March 25 (PIA) -- Congresswoman Sharee Ann Tan of the 2nd District of Samar said she will provide home and farm lot to rebel returnees in her district.

This she said during the regionwide CLOA distribution in Tacloban City recently led by Secretary John R. Castriciones of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

Tan said she is eyeing some 185 hectares of land in the district for distribution to rebel returnees as their home and farm lot.

“Each rebel returnee is entitled to 100 square meters home lot and one hectare as farm lot,” Tan said. message.

Aside from the allocation of home and farm lot to former rebels, the lady solon plans to allocate three hectares for the establishment of Peace and Prosperity Village in Barangay Catigawan, Pinabacdao, Samar.

She also said that rebel returnees from Pinabacdao and Basey, both is Samar, will undergo agri-fishery training and another training in backyard gardening.

Tan said she will organize more farmers’ associations in her district to get more funding support from various national government agencies. She said there are 70 active peoples’ organizations now organized in her district.

She also thanked DAR for the effort in the distribution of CLOAs to ARB farmers in her district, which she said will help address insurgency in this part of the region.

Tan, in her message, recognized and appreciated, the programs, projects and services provided by the government that helped address insurgency and alleviate poverty in the three Samar provinces. (ldl/rsv/PIA Biliran)
