‘Pabahay sa Magsasaka’ to give ARBs decent housing units, says DAR chief

TACLOBAN CITY, March 25 (PIA) -- Secretary John R. Castriciones of the Department of Agrarian Reform reported to the Agrarian Reform Beneficiary (ARB) farmers during the regionwide CLOA distribution in Tacloban City, March 19, that the government will not just give land to them but this time, a decent home.

“Gusto ng gobyerno na maging maginhawa ang pamumuhay ng magsasaka,” Castriciones said referring to the construction of housing units for ARB farmers in the country to be implemented by his department dubbed “Pabahay sa Magsasaka.”

After the distribution of their CLOAs, the DAR chief told farmers in his keynote speech that a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was entered into with Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development regarding the said housing project.

Meanwhile, Castriciones also brought good news to ARB farmers in the region like the access to financial loan under the AFFORDS program through at the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) in the amount of P50,0000 payable within one year at 6 percent interest.

Castriciones also reported the provision of three hectares of land for cultivation and production purposes to graduate of agriculture courses as per administrative order issued by the department last year.
