LGU Wao, APMC ink MOA for blood donation campaign

MARAWI CITY, Mar. 9 (PIA)—The municipal government of Wao in Lanao del Sur and Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) formally entered into an agreement for the regular conduct of bloodletting programs in the municipality.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by municipal councilor Angelita Yutig, representing Mayor Elvino Balicao Jr, and APMC chief Dr. Shalimar Sani-Rakiin on March 6, 2021. The signing was witnessed by Wao District Hospital chief Dr. Asnawi Dalidig and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Emelyn Alvarez.

Under the MOA, the Wao municipal government in collaboration with the District Hospital and Municipal Health Office will organize a bloodletting activity for APMC on a quarterly basis.

APMC is a Level III hospital and the lead blood service facility in the province highly capable of operating its Blood Bank. With this MOA, the Wao District Hospital will serve as a blood station for APMC and provide necessary assistance on the provision of blood.

To kick-off the partnership, the Municipal Government through the Rural Health Unit organized a Bloodletting activity at the Municipal Plaza.

Despite its distance, Rakiin said the municipality of Wao is the first and only Local Government Unit (LGU) in Lanao del Sur to have responded to their request and committed to providing a regular supply of blood to the medical center.

Rakiin hopes other LGUs in the provinces of Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte will also enter into an agreement with APMC to fill in the gaps for lack of blood supply to further serve the constituents of the two Lanao provinces. (APMC)
