La Union logs 208 COVID-19 cases, highest single-tally

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Apr. 1 (PIA) – The province of La Union reminded residents to remain united in conquering the coronavirus disease as it logged 208 new cases on March 31 – the highest single-day tally since the pandemic started.

“We received the news that our province has 208 new confirmed COVID-19 cases,” a post from the province’s official Faceboook page read on Wednesday night.

These new numbers pushed the total number of cases in the province to 1,939.

The latest cases, which come from all 20 component local government units of La Union, are as follows:

Agoo – 14; Aringay – 7; Bacnotan – 25; Bagulin – 2; Balaoan – 5; Bangar – 2; Bauang - 12; Burgos – 3; Caba – 3; Luna – 13; Naguilian – 14; Pugo – 4; Rosario – 3; San Fernando City – 55; San Gabriel – 4; San Juan – 6; Santol - 3; Santo Tomas – 5; Sudipen – 14; and Tubao  - 14.

As such, the provincial government urged the public to do their part as it is working closely with its partners to manage the situation.

“We cannot let our efforts and sacrifices go to waste. Our battle against the pandemic is far from over,” the post said.

As part of the Prevention-Detection-Isolation-Treatment-Reintegration initiatives of the province, the provision of personal protective equipment, beds, food packs, and hygiene kits, implementation of stricter border control, and coordination with the police forces for stricter ground monitoring, among others, are being prioritized.

Especially in time for the the Holy Week, the public is reminded anew in spreading love and not the virus in the province by practicing minimum public health standards.

These health protocols are staying at home; wearing face mask and face shield; observing physical distance; staying informed of verified information only; avoiding mass gatherings; and frequent handwashing.

“It is only when we are united that we can conquer COVID-19. Let us work together to beat this pandemic,” the post added.
