Ilocos Norte opens special employment for students, OSYs

LAOAG CITY, Mar. 26 (PIA) – Are you a student or an out-of-school youth (OSY) looking for ways to earn amid coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic?

The provincial government of Ilocos Norte, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), will be accepting applications for the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) in the new normal.

Qualifications include: student or OSY at least 18 years old but not more than 30 years old; student must have obtained a passing general weighted average (GWA); and applicants have not availed any form of programs and assistance from the provincial government.

Applicants need to prepare the following: duly accomplished SPES Application Form; five pieces of passport-size picture; four copies of photocopied birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA); recent grades and school registration preferably in the second semester; and proof of income.

For non-wage earner parents, the applicant must present original and three copies of photocopied Certificate of Indigence or Certificate of Low Income issued by the Barangay or SWDO of the local government unit, indicating the parents’ name and occupation.

Meanwhile for wage earner parents, four copies of latest Income Tax Return (ITR) and four copies of Certificate of Tax Exemption.

The submission of requirements and interview will be today, March 26 at the La Tabacalera Lifestyle Center in Laoag City from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Through this program, students are provided temporary employment to help them earn for a living while learning the ropes in office work.

Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Zamboanga City was put into limelight as they shared their assistance program for the youth during the Network Briefing News program hosted by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.

“We gave out basic health protective essentials to different sectors in Zamboanga City like in schools and religious sector. We gave out hand washers, face masks, face shields, foot bath, and tarpaulin which has information about COVID-19,” Zamboanga City SK Federation President Cary Joh Pioc said.

While there is no certainty when this pandemic would end, the youth leaders of SK Zamboanga City continues to ensure that no youth in the communities are left behind. (JCR/AMB/MJTAB/PIA Ilocos Norte)
