GenTri LCE tightens quarantine protocols due to surge in Covid cases

TRECE MARTIRES, Cavite Mar. 19 (PIA) --Gen. Trias Mayor Antonio 'Ony' Ferrer issued Executive Order no. 08 S. 2021 for the implementation of a more rigorous public health protocols to curtail the further spread of the pandemic in the city.

The local chief executive together with Vice Mayor Morit Sison conferred with the Chief of Police of the General Trias Component City Police Station and all Sub-Station Commanders for the strict and immediate implementation of said executive order.

This developed due to the alarming surge in the number of CoViD-19 cases in the city in the past four weeks.

According to the GenTri City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), from the total of 21 active cases in February 16, 2021 the number of active cases ballooned to 126 from the latest addition of 16 new cases as of March 16, 2021.

EO 08 s. 2021 states that curfew hours in the city will be enforced from 10pm-5am while curfew for children aged 10-15 years is 6pm to 7am. Residents aged between 16-65 years are allowed to leave their residence while Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) are exempted provided they show proper identification in control/checkpoints.

Liquor ban in the city will be implemented from March 15 - April 15, 2021.

All forms of public, mass or social gatherings including weddings, birthdays, funerals, entertainment activities are limited to 10 persons or fifty percent (50%) of venue capacity which also applies to restaurant dine-in services.

In the observance of the Holy Week, Visita Iglesia by non-residents will be prohibited and only designated churches can be visited on Maundy Thursday. These are the historic St. Francis of Asisi Church in the town proper, St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in Manggahan, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Barangay Javalera, San Gabriel Arkangel Parish in Barangay San Francisco, and The Annunciation Parish in Barangay Pasong Camachile.

Meanwhile, mourning rites or funeral wakes will be regulated to five (5) days if the cause of death is not CoViD-related, while immediate internment is mandatory for CoViD-related deaths.

Entry to all returning residents and OFs will require coordination with the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) upon arrival at the city for recording and initial medical evaluation.

Only symptomatic individuals are required to undergo the 14-day facility-based quarantine and the RT-PCR swab test while asymptomatic returning residents and OFs are exempted from the swab test.

Moreover, violation of the mandatory wearing of face mask and face shield in public places, and in private and public transportation and inside establishments at all times will be subject to commensurate penalties according to the law.

According to local authorities, at least 19 individuals were arrested on the first night of the implementation of the order that took effect Monday, March 15 on violation of curfew hours and liquor ban.  (Ruel Francisco with reports from GenTri PIO, Dennis Abrina)
