Farmers’ Market at Rizal Park opens this weekend

PASIG CITY, March 12 (PIA) -- The National Parks Development Committee (NPDC) is inviting the public to come and visit the Farmers’ Market at the Rizal Park and support our local farmers.

The Farmers’ Market will take place on Saturday, March 13 at the Burnham Green, Rizal Park. Stalls will be open from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The event aims not only to promote local produce, but also to support national efforts towards ensuring food security for all Filipinos through the appreciation for local agriculture.

According to organizers, this weekend’s Farmer's Market is one surefire way to support local farmers while getting huge savings at the same time.

They said the local farmers are currently in dire need of help to get paid fair prices for the backbreaking work they do to grow the food we eat every day.

The organizers also cited the significant vegetable mark-ups, and the notion of knowing that the Farmers' Market is giving farmers an alternate venue to sell their produce directly to park goers, and consumers.

In turn, they said, the event can stretch the peso to buy more vegetables, increase daily veggie intake, and get a lot more healthy.

It’s a win-win for both the farmers and the end users, they added.

Market goers are reminded to follow safety and health protocols. (PIA NCR)
