Dgte logs 1 new COVID-19 case

DUMAGUETE CITY, March 5 (PIA) -- The number of active COVID-19 cases in Dumaguete City has dropped to 10 following the recoveries of five patients with one new case reported as of March 4.

City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah Talla provided the following profiles of the five COVID-19 patients who recovered: 61-year old father of a COVID-19 positive case from Brgy. Daro; 81-year old senior citizen from Brgy. Camanjac; 33-year-old seafarer from Brgy. Cadawinonan; and the 23-year old female business process outsourcing employee with symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and the 76-year old housewife, both from Brgy. Pulantubig.

The lone COVID-19 case reported is a 58-year-old self-employed male resident of Brgy. Bajumpandan with ILI symptoms. 

Talla said there are currently 10 active cases, 436 recoveries, and 29 deaths from Jan. 30, 2020 to March 4, 2021.

The health official disclosed that the 10 active COVID-19 cases are residents of barangays Bagacay (1), Bajumpandan (1), Banilad (1), Bantayan (1), Batinguel (2), Camanjac (1), Junob (2), and Poblacion 6 (1).

Meanwhile, five persons under monitoring (PUMs) were released from isolation after they completed the 14-day quarantine period without showing ILI symptoms. 

Of the five new PUMs, four are close contacts of the COVID-19 positive case in Brgy. Bajumpandan and Brgy. Bagacay and one pregnant woman with symptoms of ILI from Brgy. Taclobo.

None of the PUMs seen and examined by the City Health workers manifested symptoms of ILI while under quarantine. (jct/PIA7 Negros Oriental with reports from CPIO Dems Demecillo)
