ILOILO CITY, March 23 (PIA) - - Mayor Mark Palabrica of Bingawan, Iloilo has ordered the suspension of office work in the local government unit (LGU) from March 22 to March 24, 2021 due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In his Memorandum Order No. 06-2021, Palabrica said the three-day suspension is part of the preventive measures of the LGU while waiting for the results of the ongoing RT-PCR testing and contact tracing.

This, after five LGU employees and another national government employee assigned in the municipality tested positive for COVID-19.

Palabrica also suspended all LGU meetings and activities including the flag ceremony every Monday and Friday until further notice.

Moreover, gathering and eating together in the office shall be avoided.

All LGU employees, except those rendering emergency responses and health services, were also advised to be at work-from-home arrangement but shall keep communication lines open.

Palabrica said the Rural Health Unit shall remain open to render health services except medical check-up and laboratory examinations.

However, he placed the municipal hall and the town’s gym on lockdown for the safety of residents.

The gym temporarily houses the Municipal Civil Registrar’s Office, COMELEC Office, Legislative (Sangguniang Bayan) Building, Municipal Social Welfare Office (Magdalo Building), Kalahi Office (Building), Liga ng mga Barangay Office (Municipal Guest House), and Senior Citizens’ Building.

“All are hereby reminded to strictly observe minimum health protocols at all time. Wear mask properly, disinfect and observe social distancing,” said Palabrica in his directive.

He also enjoined LGU officials, employees and other concerned to immediately inform health personnel when experiencing COVID related symptoms, stay at home and refrain from going to public places. (JSC/laf/PIA6 Iloilo)
