#BangonSamala draws support from top rank government executives

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite Mar. 25 (PIA) -- The local government of Kawit through the #BangonSamala donation drive received support from top rank government executives to help victims of the recent fire that burned down houses in a residential area in Barangay Samala-Marquez.

Three hundred forty nine (349) families or 1,447 individuals are currently staying in evacuation centers in the municipality: the Binakayan Elementary School, Binakayan National High School, and Florante Ilano Elementary School under the care of the employees of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

#BangonSamala was established to raise donations in cash or kind to help the families/individuals affected by the tragic fire that happened in the wee hours of March 19, 2021.

Chief Presidential Adviser Secretary Salvador Panelo, together with Noveleta Mayor Dino Reyes-Chua, and 1st District Board Member Davey Chua came the day after the tragic fire incident for a relief operation to bring relief goods and assistance to the distraught victims that were left homeless and hopeless in this time of pandemic.

On March 21, representatives from the offices of President Duterte and Senator Bong Go visited the fire victim evacuees as they brought help in the form of cash assistance, food packs, face masks, face shields, vitamins, and many more.

During their visit, they raffled off bicycles, tablets, and pairs of rubber shoes to lucky winners to somehow alleviate their suffering.

Likewise, DSWD Secretary Rolly Bautista and Assistant Secretary Victor Neri together with other public servants from different government agencies personally came to bring help and somehow bring hope to the families in the evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, Kawit Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo gave assurance to the families that they could rebuild their houses in the exact same location where their houses stood before the fire.

"Wag kayong mag-alala, kung saan kayo nakatirik ay doon pa rin kayo magtatayo ng inyong bahay," stated Mayor Aguinaldo as he consoled the fire victims at the Binakayan National High School.

The #BangonSamala of the MSWDO continue to receive outpouring support even from private groups and non-government organizations like the KAMPILAN, 1957 Security and Investigation Agency, Rotary Club of Congressional, Cavite Lodge No. 2, and IGPLI who contributed to donate 50 cavans of rice.

These acts of kindness and support to these people burdened with so much loss can help them cope with the tragedy and bring hope to start anew. (Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite with reports from Angelo Aguinaldo FB page/Dennis Abrina)
