Albano pushes rice aid for 4Ps

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, March 24 (PIA) - Gov. Rodolfo Albano III has asked the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to consider the provision of rice assistance to all Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino (4Ps) beneficiaries in the province.

Gov. Rodolfo Albano III said the proposal will help the 4Ps beneficiaries including rice farmers and agricultural cooperatives in marketing their products considering that Isabela is known as second province in the country that is producing the bulk of rice harvest next to Nueva Ecija.

“We have a proposal during our Regional Development Council (RDC) meeting to make a portion of the cash assistance for 4Ps to be utilized into rice assistance not only in Isabela but in other provinces in the country,” Albano said.

Albano added that part of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) can be used as rice subsidy for government employees to ensure food security in the  government sector, saying further that this will also help farmers' cooperatives in marketing and stabilizing their rice products.

The governor also bared that the the provincial government is giving dump trucks to each barangay to help them in improving their Farm to Market Roads (FMRs) for the benefit of farmers where  400 units have been initially released by the PLGU out of the province's 10,018 barangays.
