600 CoronaVac vials for military personnel arrive in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY (PIA) – A total of 600 vials of CoronaVac vaccine arrived at the Tactical Operations Group 5 (TOG-5) of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) here on Monday, March 8, for the inoculation of the military personnel in the province of Albay.

The vaccines were immediately brought to the cold storage facility of Legazpi City.

Lt. Col. Renato Esmabe, commanding officer of the Naval Force Southern Luzon Medical Dispensary, said that the Department of National Defense (DND) sent 600 doses of the vaccine to the 9th Infantry Division in Camarines Sur and another 600 doses for the military personnel in Albay.

Meanwhile, Dr. Fulbert Gillego, Legazpi City Health Officer, said that they were tasked to do the vaccination to the military personnel this week. 

“Once we are done with the simulation exercise, the vaccination to military personnel will follow,” Gillego said.

Col. Randy M. Pascua, TOG-5 Commanding officer, expressed the PAF’s full support to the government’s vaccination program and the willingness of military to avail of the vaccine.  He said that the transport of the commodities will be faster with the utilization of air assets of the PAF.

“The sensitivity of these vaccine needs to reach a certain place without the constraint of security. Because if you transport it by air, ground hazards will be prevented and you can constrict the time,” Pascua said. (PIA5)
