300 slots open for SPES beneficiaries in Dgte

DUMAGUETE CITY, March 15 (PIA) -- Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has increased the number of summer job beneficiaries to 300 students under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) for this summer break.

The mayor said more students can be included in the program to allow them to earn this summer and use their wages to pay for their tuition fees during enrollment.

The senior high school and college students in the city are invited to apply for summer jobs and visit their respective Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons for possible inclusion in the SPES.

The program is funded by the Dumaguete City Government and the Department of Labor and Employment.

SK President Renz Macion and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Socorro Mira convened all the SK chairpersons yesterday to discuss the partnership in the implementation of SPES.

PESO Manager Mira said the SK chairpersons will monitor the performance of the beneficiaries.

Applicants will be interviewed by PESO in the barangays this summer.

The student-beneficiaries will work in the clean and green projects of their respective barangays. (jct/PIA7 Negros Oreintal)
