220 Chinese maritime militia presence in West Ph Sea

QUEZON CITY, Mar. 21 (PIA) – The National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) received a confirmed report from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on the presence of around 220 Chinese Maritime Militia (CMM) vessels converged at Julian Felipe Reef (Whitsun Reef), 175 nautical miles west of Bataraza, Palawan.

“The Government will continue to monitor the situation as it remains steadfast in its duty to protect Philippine sovereignty and sovereign rights in the country’s maritime domain,” NTF-WPS said in the statement,

Meanwhile, the Department of National Defense (DND) issued a separate statement that says: “We call on the Chinese to immediately recall these boats violating our maritime rights. We are committed to uphold our sovereign rights over the WPS.” (MTQ/PIA-IDPD)
