TESDA-NCR, QC LGU distribute starter toolkits to 219 STEP graduates

PASIG CITY, Feb. 21 (PIA) -- Some 249 graduates of the 2019 Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) have received starter toolkits from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority–National Capital Region (TESDA-NCR) and the Quezon City Government that would aid them in their chosen trade.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, TESDA-NCR Regional Director Florencio Sunico, Jr. led the distribution of the toolkits to the 249 graduates of the 2019 STEP.

The graduates from the eight barangays in the city completed the Bread Making and Hilot Wellness Massage programs.

Mayor Belmonte, Vice Mayor Sotto, and RD Sunico reminded the scholars to make use of their skills and toolkits to make a living, and share their experience with others, especially to those who need skills training for their livelihood.

Likewise, District Director Mariflor Liwanag expressed her appreciation to the scholars for finishing the program and encouraged them to invite their family and friends to train with TESDA.

In return, two of the scholars from both programs shared how TESDA changed their lives for the better after finishing the training program.

STEP is a community-based specialty training program that addresses the specific skills needs of the communities and promotes employment, particularly through entrepreneurial, self-employment and service-oriented activities.

It aims to provide skills and training opportunities for the beneficiaries in the barangays/communities to make them employable and productive. (PIA NCR)
