PRC Isabela starts saliva testing for COVID-19

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Feb. 15 (PIA) - After securing the go signal from the government, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Isabela Molecular Laboratory has started conducting saliva testing for COVID-19 last week.

PRC Isabela Chapter Administrator Josie Stephanie Cabrera said 164 individuals have already undergone saliva test, all from a private firm in the province.

Cabrera is expecting that more individuals or groups will extend interest to have a schedule in undergoing saliva test because it is a "non-invasive and less stringent" alternative to the swab test.

She added that saliva test does not require for a specimen collector to wear full personal protective equipment, adding that it is cheaper as it uses less equipment and reagents. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
