P250-M multi-purpose convention center to rise in City of Ilagan

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Feb. 21 (PIA) - It is expected that in one and a half years, the construction of the P250 million multi-purpose commercial and convention center at Barangay Alibagu in this city will be completed, the city mayor said.

During the groundbreaking ceremony held recently, City of Ilagan Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz said amid the COVID-19 pandemic, efforts should be undertaken to realize the city government's vision to be a Livable City by 2030.

“We have to prepare the economic stimulus so that, simultaneously, we have to address the impact of this pandemic,” Diaz said. 

“Today marks another milestone of the City of Ilagan, as we embark on building a new landmark not only for the city but for the entire region,” Diaz added.

Aside from the soon-to-rise multi-purpose commercial and convention center, Diaz added that the City of Ilagan Medical Center is already nearly-completed located at barangay Lullutan and medical personnel are all set for the operations of the city hospital that will cater the medical needs of Ilagueños.

The mayor further said that over the years, a number of important infrastructures are underway like the improvement of the street scape of Provincial and City Roads, a commercial building in front of ISU Ilagan, the city of llagan Hotel and Convention Center and now the construction of a multi-purpose commercial and convention center to name a few.

"Despite the many catastrophes that were faced by the city like the COVID-19, typhoons and floods and drought, the city government still stand and continue its mission to make the lives of Ilaguenos comfortable," he added.

Also in attendance during the groundbreaking ceremony were members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod led by Vice Mayor Kit Bello. (MDCT/MGE/ PIA 2-Isabela)
