NV ELCAC pushes Ambaguio's ambulance plea

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Feb. 19 (PIA) - Members of the Provincial Task Force - End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) have asked the Philippine Charity Sweeptakes Office (PCSO) to provide an ambulance for the upland town of Ambaguio.

"This assistance will help a lot in enabling the local government unit of Ambaguio in bringing its sick villagers to the nearest hospitals for treatment," Governor Carlos Padilla said.

Ambaguio's request for an ambulance came after the Municipal Task Force-ELCAC approved a resolution seeking the assistance from the PCSO through the PTF-ELCAC.

Local officials of Ambaguio said the absence of an ambulance in the municipality has been used by the New People's Army (NPA) in gaining mass-based support among the villagers.

"An all-terrain ambulance is needed for our insurgency-cleared barangays so that our villagers will not feel they are deprived of government services. Truly, a whole of a nation approach is needed for our needs," Mayor Arnold Dinungon said.

He said the provision of an ambulance will help their town's villagers in times of disasters and emergencies especially in the remote barangays of Napo, Amweg, Dulli and Camandag.(MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
