CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Feb 22 (PIA) - Composed of various media outlets in the region, the Media Advocates for Nutrition in Governance in region 10 (MANGO DIEZ) led by the National Nutrition Council (NNC)-10 held a virtual meeting to discuss local media plan to drum up public awareness on the nutrition programs and initiatives in Northern Mindanao.

NNC’s nutrition program coordinator Gladys Mae Fernandez shared that 2020 had been a challenging time to implement monitoring and evaluation of nutrition campaigns and programs because of COVID 19 but the NNC continues to do its campaigns and programs virtually especially with the local government units (LGUs) to improve their nutritional status.

As for the local media plan this year, NNC is looking into tapping radio stations to promote 2021 Nutrition Month campaign, airing of 10 Kumainments Nutrition School on-the-air (NSOA), and One Region in Nutrition for nutrition related news and information in region 10.

As to social media engagements, NNC-10 will continue its Short Filmmaking competitions from July to October with participants from junior and senior high school students region-wide to promote awareness and mobilize actions with the 2021 Nutrition Month theme.

In 2020, the winners for the short film making contest were Misamis Occidental National High School 3rd place for “Pagsibol”, Maigo National High School 2nd place for “Dear Mama” and Ozamiz City National High School, 1st place for “Tropeo.”
