DavSur LGU continues financial and livelihood assistance to POs, LGUs

DAVAO CITY, Feb. 15  (PIA) – The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur has turned-over several projects and livelihood and financial assistance to the people’s organizations and local government units in the province since the start of the year.

The Blocon Workers Association (BLOWA) in the municipality of Magsaysay was the first association who have benefited from the livelihood assistance given by the PLGU. They have received a total amount of P165,000.00 intended to be used as an additional capital for small businesses for the 33 members of the association.

The same assistance was also given to the Colonsabac Lumad Farmers Association in Brgy. Colonsabac in the municipality of Matanao where they received P200,000.00 intended to be used as additional capital for their grocery store and agri-supply.

In Sta. Cruz town, Vice Governor Marc Cagas turned-over the P18 million worth of one-kilometer concrete road project in Barangay Inawayan. The project includes road concreting, concrete canals, pipe culverts, and guardrails.

The vice governor also turned over two reservoirs, a submersible pump with complete accessories and a two-km pipelines worth P1.5 million to Upper Kiagot, Digos City. The project was funded under the Water Resource Development Program of the province.

The PLGU has also distributed assistive devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, and canes to almost 60 persons with disabilities (PWDs) throughout the province.

The project was made possible through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), under the supervision of PSWD Officer Geraldine Sanchez Lano.

In the Municipality of Malalag, Gov. Douglas Cagas turned-over a newly constructed barangay health center worth almost P2 million in Bgry. Bulacan.

The governor also turned-over 700 units of digital boxes worth P1,000 each and 15 units of duplicating machines worth P200,000.00 each to the officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) Davao del Sur. The purchase of the digital boxes and machines were taken from the Provincial Special Education Fund (SEF).

Cagas has also recently spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony of the two-hectare relocation site worth P2 million for the 142 qualified beneficiaries of Bgry. Southern Paligue in Padada last February 12, 2021.

The said project is under the Relocation Site Development Program (RSDP) managed by RSDP Coordinator Fidel Franco.

These assistance and projects are just few of the assistance that the PLGU has turned-over to the people’s organizations and local government units throughout the province for the past month. (PIA-XI/Samantha Jabol)
