Dapitanons say yes to COVID vaccination

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Feb 18 (PIA) – Barangay Chairpersons together with their Barangay Information Officers from the 50 barangays of Dapitan City commit to be part of the information campaign on the COVID vaccination. 

The City Government of Dapitan organized the Barangay Information Officers Network (BION) on Wednesday (February 17). During the orientation, Dapitan City Information Officer Engr. Nonito Malacat encourages all the Barangay Chairpersons and Barangay Information Officers (BIOs) to deliver the accurate information in their own communities especially on the pre-vaccination period. 

The roles and responsibilities of the BION are emphasized to attain the goal in helping the government, “through right information, we have the power, the power to save lives," said City Tourism Officer Apple Marie Agolong. 

Moreover, the BIOs pledged and committed to be  responsible information officers and to continuously empower their communities down to the barangay level in the presence of Philippine Information Agency Usec. Ramon L. Cualoping III who  visited the city during the BION together with the ‘Pagdu-aw’ which elaborates the vaccination plan of the government. 

"We are pushing for vaccination because we want to save lives and to revive hope by uniting everyone with a single message, we will all rise together and shape our future by convincing the people to trust the government," Usec. Cualoping added. 

Meanwhile, during the ‘Pagdu-aw’ Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Jose Rupuerto Martin Andanar assures the Dapitanons that the government has no bias in choosing for the COVID-19 vaccine brands purchased for the country as they are focusing with the efficacy and safety of the vaccines. 

Furthermore, the Dapitanons who became part of the BION together with the local officials said ‘Yes’ to COVID vaccination and when it arrives, they will also be prepared to provide free vaccines to every Dapitanons. (RVC/MLE/PIA9-Zamboanga City)
