CHO: COVID-19 scarier than the vaccine

BACOLOD CITY, Feb. 15 (PIA) –- The City Health Office (CHO) here urged Bacolodnons to avail of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines once available, in an effort to dispel fears of its effects.

In an interview during the Vaccination Simulation Exercise here, CHO officer-in-charge Dr. Edwin Miraflor said COVID-19 is scarier than the vaccine.

“We have had vaccines for flu, pneumonia, measles-rubella and typhoid, there are side effects to these also.  Eventually, there are side effects (on COVID-19 vaccines) but these are not a big percentage versus the good effects,” Miraflor said.

Bacolod City has 10 vaccination teams of one vaccinator, one verifier, one recorder, and one assistant each team currently training on the procedures for mass vaccination.

There are 25 identified vaccination centers all over the city.

“Let us listen to the news and focus at the good effects of the vaccine.  A big percentage of it are good news on the vaccine to prevent death and complications through COVID-19.  Let us not highlight the bad effects because if ever there are severe reactions that is just one out of the thousands tested in other countries,” Miraflor said as he urged Bacolodnons avail of the vaccines. *(LTP/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
