CALOOCAN CITY, Feb. 20 (PIA) -- The Caloocan Government on Friday engaged utility companies operating in the city to help with organizing spaghetti wires and cables.

"The Caloocan City Government had a dialogue with utility companies about fixing electricity cables in urban areas," Mayor Oca Malapitan said in his Facebook post.

Under the directive of Mayor Oca, City Administrator Engr. Oliver Hernandez led the first round of dialogues with Globe, Smart, Meralco, PDLT, Converge, and other utility companies, "for the purpose of the utility companies being instrumental in the arrangement of wired and tangled cables."

"We want to ensure the security of the citizens in the inconvenience and danger caused by these cables. So, we are asking for your help and support to clean and organize these. Just now we are thankful for your action," said Hernandez, who also heads the City Engineering Department.

During the talks it was decided to form an inter-agency Task Force to spearhead the project implementation to rid the city of dangling wires.

There will also be a memorandum of agreement that will be discussed in the next rounds of dialogue.

The unruly wires and cables, as citizens complain, has become an eyesore and hazard to the safety of communities. (PIA NCR)
