Bong Go visits Lagonglong, Villanueva towns in MisOr

MISAMIS ORIENTAL, Feb. 24 (PIA) - Senator Lawrence "Bong" Go visited the municipalities of Lagonglong and Villanueva in Misamis Oriental to personally deliver assistance to indigenous people (IP) and farmers in said towns.

During his visit, the Senator distributed food packs, free meals, masks, face shields, and vitamins to the beneficiaries. Some also received bicycles, computer tablets, and shoes.

In his message he underscored the importance of love of country, saying “Mahalin mo ang iyong kapwa Pilipino, hinding hindi ka magkakamali (Love your countrymen and you will never go wrong.)"

Amid COVID 19 pandemic, Go said the most important thing now is to be alive and to overcome this pandemic together.

“Maningkamot ko pirmi nga matagaan mo og proyekto diri sainyong lugar (I will do my best to bring projects in your area)," he said.

Meanwhile, Lagonglong Mayor Jay Albert C. Puertas thanked the Senator for visiting his municipality.

“Ang lungsod sa Lagonglong isa ka 5th class municipality. Kung inyong tan-awon, wala gyud tay mga factories, nga mahimong magpatarbaho-an. Ang source of livelihood sa Lagonglong sa atong mga katawhan labi na atong mga IPs is mao ra gyud ang agrikultura og ang pagpangisda,” said mayor Puertas.

(Lagonglong town is a 5th class municipality. If you look, we have no factories, as main source of livelihood. The source of livelihood in Lagonglong of our people especially our IPs is only agriculture and fishing.)

He admitted that the IPs are really those vulnerable, as they are easily swayed by the rebels because they are far from government services. That is why, he said, he is grateful for Senator Bong Go for choosing Lagonglong as one beneficiary town for his aid.

In VIllanueva, Senator Go  joined the groundbreaking of a P400-million hospital.

Go said the new hospital would help expand the access of the people of Misamis Oriental and the neighboring areas to quality healthcare services from the government.

He also stressed that the adjustment of the country's healthcare system is one of the priorities of the President. (JMORucat/PIA10)
