Agusan Norte creates local vaccination implementation plan

BUTUAN CITY, Feb. 15 (PIA) – “The success and failure of the national vaccination program of the government depend on the actions taken at the grassroots level," said Agusan del Norte Governor Dale Corvera during the Network Briefing News (NBN) on Thursday hosted by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.

Gov. Corvera bared the need to have a localized implementation of the national vaccination program of the government. He said, there is a need to conduct a massive information drive on the COVID-19 vaccination and guaranteeing the people of safe and effective vaccines.

Corvera also revealed that during the meeting with the different municipal and city mayors of the province, the discussion of the implementation of provincial vaccination plan was given focus, including the master list of the Agusanons that will be included in the vaccination.

The governor said that one of the priorities of the province is the establishment of different  vaccination centers. "Two clusters will be established – one cluster will be based in Cabadbaran City to cater the municipalities near the city up to the municipality of Kitcharao, while the other cluster will be based at the Provincial Health Office to cater also the LasBueNasCar or Las Nieves, Buenavista, Nasipit, Carmen areas," Corvera said.

Storage facilities will be established including the refrigeration of the vaccines and other logistical supports to address the needs of the vaccination program, he added.

Gov. Corvera also announced that a one million peso (P1 Million) fund will also be given to the municipalities and lone city of the province to support the logistical requirements in the implementation of the national vaccination program in the province.

Despite the many challenges encountered in the vaccination campaign, Corvera is optimistic that majority of the Agusanons will avail themselves of the free vaccine. (NCLM, PIA Agusan del Norte)
