CALOOCAN CITY, Feb. 19 (PIA) -- Ten "unique" Caloocan City Government staff has been either regularized or promoted this year by Mayor Oca Malapitan for their crucial roles in curbing COVID-19 infections in this city.

In exchange for their unique service for Caloocan citizens, Mayor Oca Malapitan earlier ordered three job order workers to find permanent items, and also directed the Human Resource Department to give priority to seven regular employees for promotion.

The 10 unique staff were: Lourdes Canales, of the Caloocan City Social Welfare Department; Benito Galvez Jr., Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management; Crisostomo Kong, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office; Joseph Celino, City Health Department.; Mia Shiela Enriquez, Caloocan City Medical Center; Jerry Melanio, City Environment Management Department; Anabel Pronto, General Services Department; Corazon Cruz, Assessor's Office; Eddieheimer Edra, Caloocan City North Medical Center; and Maria Victoria Gonzales, City Council Secretariat.

The selected staff, the local government said, continue to provide services vital in the city's fight against COVID-19.

Some of them are medical workers, members of the rescue team and there are also leaders in the distribution of the aid of the City Government, it added.

The staff were awarded during a simple ceremony in line with the observance of Caloocan City's 59th founding anniversary on Feb. 16. Three of them are job-order workers who were given plantilla positions, while seven permanent employees were promoted to a higher salary grade.

′′One of our criteria for choosing unique staff for this year is the staff who played a big part and contributed to our Covid-19 response," said Mayor Oca.

′′We will continue all the good things we do for our fellow citizens in support of the City Government and for the glory of our Lord God," he added. (PIA NCR)
