PRO-6 trains speakers on COVID-19 awareness response, empowerment

ILOILO CITY, Jan. 12 (PIA) -- Sixty police officers in Western Visayas underwent coronavirus awareness and response seminar on January 9 to 10 at Camp Delgado.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Public Information Officer Lt. Col. Joem Malong said that the participant-personnel are assigned with the Police Community Relations Section of the provincial offices region wide.

The PNP CARE or Corona Virus Awareness Response and Empowerment Infodemic Drive was first conceptualized by Chief, Philippine National Police, Police General Debold Sinas, when he was then the Regional Director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

The advocacy aims to mitigate, if not prevent, the spread of COVID-19, promote health, provide precautionary measures and maximize information dissemination to ensure that the community gets the most reliable, timely and accurate information if they need to face the current global health crisis.

Malong said that the training team is headed by the Director of the Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG) himself, Police Brigadier General Eric E. Noble, who will ensure that the different PROs nationwide get the standard training.

During the opening program, Noble emphasized the importance and the impact of the CARE activities in the different communities in Luzon, which contributes to information dissemination and community mobilizing in support to the government's effort to stop the spread of COVID 19.

“This training will maximize and utilize the PNP strength to raise awareness on COVID-19” Noble said.

He added “this will also enhance our personnel’s skills in public speaking.”

Meanwhile, PRO 6 director Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda thanked the training team from the National Headquarters for conducting the activity here.

“The conduct of this training is very timely. We need to go down to the community and educate them of their role in fighting the pandemic,” Miranda said.

The participants will compose the PNP’s Speakers Bureau Team who will cascade the lecture in their respective area of assignments. (PIA6/Story and photos from PRO6-RPIO)
