La Union logs 18 new COVID-19 cases

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Jan. 7 (PIA) – The province of La Union recorded 18 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Wednesday.

This was informed by the Provincial Government of La Union on its official Facebook page on January 6.

Of the 18 new cases, nine are from the City of San Fernando; six from the municipality of Bauang; and one each from the towns of Bacnotan, Luna, and Rosario.

These updates were confirmed by the concerned local chief executives through their respective social media page.

On a lighter note, La Union logged two new recoveries from the municipalities of Agoo and Bauang.

Currently, the province has 75 active cases wherein 31 are admitted in isolation facilities; 29 in hospitals; and 15 under strict home quarantine.

Furthermore, 33 cases or 44 percent had history of exposure; 26 or 35 percent had no history of travel and exposure; 11 or 15 percent had history of travel outside La Union; four cases or five percent had history of travel within La Union; and one case with both history of travel and exposure.

The youngest active case is below one year old while the oldest is within 81-90 years old.

In total, La Union has 817 total cases, 720 recoveries, and 22 deaths.

“The provincial government is closely monitoring the situation and providing the necessary support to its component local government units and partner organizations to strengthen COVID-19 prevention, surveillance, response and treatment,” the post read.
