Iligan EOC calls for public trust on COVID-19 vaccine

ILIGAN CITY, Jan. 30 (PIA) -- Emergency Operations Center - Health Cluster head Dr. Belinda “Bunz” Lim called for the trust of the public on the screening process of the government for the vaccination against the virus.

Lim encouraged the public to trust the government in the vaccination process. She said the type of vaccine that will be given to the individual will be properly determined to ensure its suitability.

“DOH will give guidelines kanang type sa vaccine, ibagay-bagay man jud na. Saligan lang nato ang Department of Health ug LGU na ayuhon jud na ug i-arrange na kung kinsa tagaan ang angay tagaan,” she said.

[DOH will give guidelines on the type of vaccine, it will be given depending on the suitability. Just trust the Department of Health and LGU that we will properly determine who will receive the vaccine.]

In terms of authentication of vaccines, the health cluster manager assured the public that the supply will come from DOH. She clarified that the vaccines are on emergency used utilization which do not make it available commercially.

“We are assured na authentic ang bakuna na atong makuha kay di jud ta mukuha sa lain agency but the DOH,” she added.

[We are assured that the vaccines are authentic because these cannot be acquired from other agencies but from DOH.]

However, with the prioritization of vaccination, Lim reminded those who are least priority to  patiently wait for their schedule of vaccination and avoid buying vaccines from black market to protect them from possible harm.

With some individuals hesitating and refusing to be inoculated against COVID-19 over safety concerns, Lim emphasized that vaccination is just another layer of protection for the people against the transmission of the disease.

“Having COVID-19 vaccine is another layer of protection. Dili ingon na 100% di naka magkaCovid but kung you [it does not mean that you will not be safe from Covid 100% but when you) get infected, the sickness will not be as severe as when you get the transmission of infection in the natural way,” Lim explained.

Lim added that there is a need for the public to receive the vaccine to have a herd immunity, to decrease the severity of infection and to decrease the transmissibility of Covid-19. (LELA/PIA ICIC)
