Dr. Leticia Cabrera, chief of the Local Health Support Division, said 28 percent of the COVID-19 positive cases, as per latest report, is on home quarantine which according to her is very vulnerable for further spread of the virus, thus, anticipating family and community transmissions.

She said, though majority of the LGUs have already established their isolation facilities, the towns and cities that have increasing number of patients need to step up and add more their facilities to cater their asymptomatic and mild cases.

"We thank the LGUs and other agencies for their usual support in addressing this problem of containing the spread of COVID-19," Cabrera said.

She added that all of the four cities of region 2 have community transmissions, including the municipality of Solano in Nueva Vizcaya.

The municipalities of Luna, San Mariano and Tumauini in Isabela as well as the towns of Baggao and Solana in Cagayan have local transmissions as of the latest data of the health department.

She also said that the PNP Pulisya Ti Umili Don Domingo and Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), both located at barangay Balzain East in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; the PNP Solana Police Station in Solana, Cagayan; and the PNP Ilagan Police Station and the Women and Children Protection Center, both in City of Ilagan, Isabela are enclosed facilities with local transmission.

The LGU Tumauini in Tumauini, Isabela and the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish in Baggao, Cagayan have also local transmission according to Cabrera.

On the other hand, she lauded the initiative of Dr. Glenn Matthew Baggao, medical center chief of the Cagayan Valley Medical Center, for establishing a 32-bed additional isolation facility through the assistance of Cagayan third district Representative Joseph Lara and the Department of Public Works and Highways.

She said the facility is very much needed as COVID-19 cases keep on increasing in the province particularly in Tuguegarao  City.

Cabrera also reminded the public not to let their guard down cas COVID-19 is not yet over. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
