BSU Pres.  Investiture and Charter Day program set on Jan. 12

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Jan. 11 (PIA) -- The Benguet State University will officially welcome its seventh president during the Investiture Program on Tuesday (January 12, 2021).

 Commission on Higher Education Commissioner Lilian A. De Las Llagas, the BSU Board of Regents Chairperson, will lead the investiture program of Dr. Felipe SalaingComila in a blended ceremonies at the BSU gymnasium.

  Benguet officials led by Governor MelchorDiclas, Legislative Caretaker Eric Go Yap and the municipal mayors including Baguio City MayorBenjamin Magalong, Agriculture Secretary William Dar and CHED Chairperson Prospero De Vera III are expected to deliver their messages as well as commitments during the program.

The investiture program is part of the 35th Charter Day celebration of BSU which will also be held starting on January 12. The Charter Day events will kick off with a thanksgiving mass followed by the investiture program at 830AM and the Charter Day program at 1:00PM.

Dr.Comila was selected as the seventh BSU President through BOR Res. No. 165 s. 2020. He took his oath of office right after the special meeting on November 26, 2020 officiated De Las Llagas. He will take over fromDanilo B. Bose, the OIC President of BSU since July 2020.

Prior to his appointment, Comila was director of the Institute of Public Administration.

Comila said  the flagship programs, projects and activities of his administration is captured in this  year’s Charter anniversary  theme of “BSU CARES” which  stands for Challenge innovation, Advance technology and facilities, Revitalize administration, Engender partnership, and Serve to sustain intergenerational roles.

 The Charter Day program will be highlighted by the awarding of the Loyalty Awards to at least 50 employees who dedicated their lives with the institution from 35 years to 10 years and also the recognition to 11 retirees and an outgoing member of the Board of Regents.

 The activities will culminate with a cultural night to be led by Center for Culture and Arts Director Leonardo Samonte with indigenous prayer for thanksgiving and dancing of the tayaw by BSU officials led by Dr.Comila, Benguet officials and other national heads and representatives.

 Other events to be held as part of the Charter Day celebration  include 35 days virtual run from January 1 to February 4; Bike Parade, Tree Planting and Thanksgiving Mass on Jan. 12; Launching of the student activities by the Office of Students Affairs on Jan. 13; exhibit of BSU products and the BenguetOne Town One Product on Jan.13 to 15 at the BSU Gymnasium to be led by DA Sec. Dar; Faculty Fora on Jan. 14 to 15 at the CTE Function Hall by the Faculty Club and the Bloodletting activity at the BSU Anthurium Hall on Jan. 15.

Dr. Imelda Galinato, Overall Chair of the BSU Charter Day Program, said that the activities will be held adhering to the Inter Agency Task Force guidelines and protocols to ensure safety from the COVID-19.
